Artist Bio

Gilly Lugo is a Dominican-American multidisciplinary artist based in New York City. Working primarily in figurative painting and sculpture, her practice bridges the emotional and the ancestral, drawing inspiration from matriarchal lineage and spiritual traditions. Through her work, Lugo invites viewers into spaces of reflection and healing.

She holds a BFA in illustration from the Fashion Institute of Technology and recently completed a Post Baccalaureate Certificate in Ceramics from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. Her evolving sculptural work in clay complements her painterly exploration, grounding her visual language in both the earth and body.

Lugo’s work is rooted in a desire to connect others with their heritage, offering pathways to spiritual reconnection and inner restoration. Each piece becomes a vessel carrying stories, rituals and the quiet strength of matriarchs past and present.
